Tuesday March 13th

An Exciting day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival!!!!

We had a lot of visitors this morning to join the excitement in the yard and feel the buzz and anticipation amongst the staff.

Fergal watching over the string.

Today is forecast to be the best day of weather all week. The rain has not stopped for days and the clerk of the course is calling the ground Heavy, Soft in places which is going to be very testing. All runners have the same conditions but it will suit some horses better than others. We are not too worried about the ground for our runners.

All horses looked fresh and well this morning in Naunton.

Today we just have our lovely boy ‘Barney Dwan’ running in the Close Brothers Novices Handicap Chase at 5:30. Noel Fehily rides. ‘Barney Dwan’ was the star of our 2017 festival with a close 2nd in the Pertemps Final. We hope he can go one better today!!!!

Fergal and regular work rider David O’Brien giving ‘Barney Dwan’ his final preparation before today.

3 runners tomorrow at Cheltenham and 2 runners at Huntingdon.

‘Aye Aye Charlie’, ‘Coolanly’ and ‘Mercy Mercy Me’ all go to Cheltenam and ‘Chilli Romance’ and ‘Lungarno Palace’ both go to Huntingdon.

Enjoy this special week.

Thanks for reading.
