Tuesday January 2nd 2018
Well that is the first time I have written 2018 and it always feels strange for a while getting used to a new year. I hope that 2018 is going to bring us even more fantastic days and lots of luck and joy for everyone involved. The horses look amazing and some snowy days over the festive period have meant that some of the horses have had chance to freshen up and we worked hard to keep the runners going so they didn’t miss any work. They continue to run well. We enjoyed a cracking New Year Day racing at Cheltenham yesterday where all 3 runners ran lovely races. ‘Aye Aye Charlie’ travelled and jumped well to be a good 4th in the listed novice hurdle.
‘Aye Aye Charlie’ in the winners enclosure after a very pleasing run.
‘Colin’s Sister’ was then placed 3rd in the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle. The trip was a bit short for her and she was lacking bit of speed in the closing stages but it was still a great result in such a big race.
A picture from Sunday (December the 31st) that I wanted to share. This is ‘Indian Reel’ in the winners enclosure after a very close 3rd at Warwick. Alain gave him a lovely ride as he has to be held up and doesn’t like being forced from a handy position. A mistake down the back stopped his run completely and he was quite far back when turning into the home straight. Alain didn’t give up on him and he kept running on all the way to the line. One more stride and he would have been a close 2nd. It is lovely for his owners who have been very patient as he has been disappointing in his last few runs. It can take a while to learn everything about each individual horse as they are all very different. Hopefully we are getting very close to a win for these lovely owners
‘Indian Reel’ and connections in the winners enclosure next to the 3rd spot.
Alain was in yesterday to school the fantastic ‘Global Stage’ over fences. He was awesome!!
We have 1 runner tomorrow at Ludlow. ‘Angel Moon’ makes her racecourse debut in a mares bumper. Paddy rides. She is owned by June Watts and I told June that she named this mare so well as she is a total Angel and we hope she shows some real promise tomorrow as she tries so hard and enjoys her job.
