Thursday March 15th
Such a great day to have your birthday in the middle of Festival week. How lucky am I!!!??
Of corse I got a cake!!!!!
We enjoyed a great day yesterday.
‘Lungarno Palace’ surprised us all and his huge racecourse experience showed as he surge clear of the field to win the Maiden Hurdle by 11 lengths under Alain. He jumped well and took charge turning into the home straight. He has a big spring/summer ahead.
‘Chilli Romance’ got a bit stuck in the mud but will love the ground when it dries up so she will have another day.
‘Coolanly’ and ‘Aye Aye Charlie’ both did not disgrace themselves in the Ballymore Novice hurdle. ‘Coolanly’ travelled easily in the top class field but his lack of experience showed in the closing stages. ‘Aye Aye Charlie’ kept at the back out of trouble but finished very well and looks a serious 3 mile contender for the future.
Connections of both horses with Paddy and Connor in the paddock.
‘Aye Aye Charlie’ led up by Katie and Kaitlin.
‘Coolanly’ led up by Lilly.
‘Mercy Mercy Me’ then finished off the day with a superb finish in the Champion Bumper. He was keen early so Paddy settled him at the back and stayed on really well past most of the field to finish 8th only beaten 9 lengths. The winner and ‘Mercy Mercy Me’ basically went through the race together but we couldn’t quite finish as quickly. He is a future star.

Today its girl power day as our 2 special mares run at the festival.
‘Colin’s Sister’ is our first runner at 3:30. She runs in the stayers hurdle. She has had 2 wonderful seasons since she started jumping hurdles and this season she beat a top class field on her seasonal debut at Wetherby and we hope she can be involved at the business end once more.
The super stayer ‘Colin’s Sister’.
‘Cap Soleil’ is our 2nd runner at 3:50 in the mares Novice hurdle. She has only been beaten once in 6 starts and that day she was a good 2nd!!!!
The super up and coming young mare ‘Cap Soleil’ winning at Newbury.
Paddy rides both mares.
We were very lucky to welcome Darren Bird (Birdie) to the yard today. He is working at the festival and came to see the horses work on the gallops.
