Thursday April 12th

The first day of the Aintree Festival. We are here and excited for the day ahead and indeed the next 3 days in Liverpool.

We have ‘Barrakilla’ for Angela and William Rucker in the Foxhunters Chase at 4:05 over the Grand National course. He won his first Hunters chase for us at Bangor in fine style and we hope he can do the same today on this big stage. We wish Zac Baker the very best of luck in his first attempt over these fences.

Look who we met walking the Track. The very tall Zac Baker shows just how big the Grand National jumps are!!! This is the Chair!!!

We also have a runner at Taunton today. ‘Luna June’ makes her racecourse debut in the Mares Maiden Bumper at 5:35. Alain rides her for June and Tim Watts. She is a lovely filly and nicely bred. What ever she does today will be nothing compared to next season when she has strengthened up a bit more and she is a lovely prospect for the future.

Yesterday we had a lovely day racing. I went to Kempton with ‘The Groove’ and Fergal went to Market Rasen with ‘Minella Scamp’ and ‘Lip Service’. ‘Minella Scamp’ ran another consistent race to come 3rd and ‘Lip Service’ didn’t like the ground and will appreciate better ground when the weather finally turns!!!

‘The Groove’ made a pleasing return to the track. He jumped out of the stalls really well and travelled into the final 2 furlongs when he got a bit tired.

The very naughty boy ‘The Groove’ was very well behaved at Kempton yesterday. Led up by regular rider Jacob.

In the paddock with ‘The Groovy Gang’.

Tomorrow we have 4 runners at Aintree. ‘Coolanly’, ‘Poetic Rhythm’, ‘Mystifiable’ and. ‘Mercy Mercy Me’ all run.

Thanks for reading.
