Sunday January 28th

A really enjoyable day yesterday at Cheltenham with all of our runners finishing really well and all owners were happy…. that’s always a good day!!

‘Perfect Candidate’ was travelling and jumping well but a mistake down the back for the last time stopped him in his tracks. He still galloped on the finish 5th in a top class race so we were happy. If he hadn’t made the mistake I think he would have finished a lot closer.

‘Aye Aye Charlie’ looked to be struggling in behind but he stayed on really well and did his best work at the end forging into 3rd place.

Paddy with connections of ‘All Four One’ in the paddock.

‘Colin’s Sister’ then finished the day with another fab 3rd. She travelled and jumped well all the way. She got a little outpaced but stayed on gamely to get 3rd in a top class race. She will now go to the Stayers Hurdle at the festival.

The Jockeys paid tribute to Richard Woollacott before the Cleeve Hurdle. The whole racecourse did a minutes silence in memory of him.

We had a staff night out in the week to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication. The weather has been very testing and it makes everything at the yard a real battle. But it’s smiles all round!!

Stable staff do not treat racing as a job. It’s a way of life. It’s nothing like a 9-5… it’s full on with staff working every Saturday morning. They then work every 3rd Saturday evening & Sunday. So that means that staff can work 13 days before a day off. We are so reliant on our staff being dedicated as if one person lets the team down then it’s such hard work to cover the work. Fun nights like this are important to keep morale high and make the staff feel as important as they are. Paddy Brennan actually treated us all so thankyou Paddy!!!

I missed a good luck call to Jacob who also rides at Cocklebarrow Point to Point today.

So that’s good luck to Jacob, Lilly, Simon and Paddy!!!! We need you all back safe!!!

Thanks for reading.
